Cheap car rental in Tunisia should mean a fair price on a decent car, not a deal that grows at the counter. City cars start at 100 DT a day — 300 DT for 3 days, roughly €88 — with unlimited mileage and basic insurance included.

If you are flying in, the car meets you: Tunis-Carthage, Enfidha, Monastir or Djerba, handed over at arrivals, no airport surcharge. No credit card is needed to book and nothing is prepaid — you pay in dinars when you collect, and a refundable €500 deposit stands in for the insurance excess, returned in full when the car comes back undamaged.
